Seok Joo-myung0Seok Joo-myung was a scientist who studied butterflies. For 20 years, from the 1930s to the 1950s, he collected 750,000 butterflies. He measured their wings and spots and drew pictures to help people learn more about butterflies. Seok Joo-myung even fixed some mistakes in some famous studies by Japanese scholars. It made the Korean people feel proud during the Japanese colonial period. The modern system of classifying life forms appeared in the West in the late 1930s, so Seok’s study method was ahead of its time.
