The country should build a Korean Flag Museum0Introduction
The Korean flag is an important part of our national identity. Since it was created in 1876, the flag has evolved throughout Korean history. The design and colors all have special significance. Today’s debate topic is whether a Korean Flag museum should be built. A museum would honor this vital national symbol. It would also educate people about the meaning of the flag. However, it would be a costly project. Let’s see what Henry and Ashley think.

The Korean Flag Museum should be built. Although the flag is an important symbol of national identity, most people know very little about the flag. The museum would offer Koreans the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of their country. Also, there has been a rise in the number of tourists here. Building the museum would give tourists another activity to do. The Korean Flag Museum would be an important educational opportunity for many people.

The Korean Flag Museum should not be built. Korea has more than 500 museums and galleries! There is no reason to build another one. It is too expensive. Also, why build a museum for only one national symbol? It would be such a small museum. It makes no sense to build an entire museum for the flag. If you want to teach people about the Korean flag, just build a special exhibit in the Korean National Museum.

Korea has more than 500 museums and galleries. However, not one of them focuses on the Korean flag. You are not in favor of the museum because you do not recognize the importance of the Korean flag! The museum would not be small. There is so much history and meaning behind the flag. The design has changed as Korea has developed throughout history. Every part of the flag has symbolic meaning. There would be a lot of interesting information to put in the museum.

I know that the flag is an important symbol of national identity. However, I still believe that an exhibit in an existing museum is sufficient. It would be a waste of money to build an entire museum for one national symbol. It is true that there has been a rise in the number of tourists here. They already have many museums in Korea to choose from. That is why we should build more creative cultural attractions.

The winner of today’s debate is Ashley. Henry committed the debate fallacy called “argumentum ad hominem.” Debaters commit this fallacy when they attack the person’s character or motives instead of the argument. Henry told Ashley, “You are not in favor of the museum because you do not recognize the importance of the Korean flag!” This was a direct attack on Ashley’s motives rather than her arguments. A debate is not for personal attacks. Focus your statements on your opponent’s arguments.
