Jean Henri Dunant

In 1859, Dunant went on a business trip to northern Italy. There, he saw the Battle of Solferino between the Austrian army and the French and Italian armies. Dunant treated the wounded soldiers with the help of some locals. He did not care about the nationality of the soldiers. In 1864, he founded the Red Cross. It is an organization that helps victims of war. In 1901, Dunant received the first Nobel Peace Prize.
