The Story of the Nobel Prize

Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel is the inventor of dynamite. Before he died, he donated his estate around $225 million to create a fund for prizes in chemistry, physics, literature, medicine, and peace. The Nobel Prize started in 1901 in Sweden and Norway, five years after Nobel’s death. Every year, the Nobel Foundation nominates qualified people around the world. So far, 870 individuals and 23 organizations have received the prizes.
