A Dream of Crossing the Ocean
Sonya Baumstein wanted to row her boat from Japan to the United States. It was a 9,600 km journey. Only a few other people crossed the Pacific Ocean without a motor-powered boat. Sonya hoped to be the first woman to row this distance alone. But bad weather put this dream on hold. The Japanese Coast Guard recently rescued her a week after she started her trip. Sonya is not discouraged because she says she likes challenges.
