Cathy Freeman is an incredible athlete from Australia. She is of the Kuku Yalanji people in Far North Queensland. Cathy started running when she was young and quickly became one of Australia’s best athletes. Her biggest win was at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. By winning a gold medal in the 400 m race, Cathy became the first Indigenous Australian to win an individual gold medal. She also won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 and 1998.
