The Italian architect Stefano Boeri is working on building a vertical forest. It is his second, 36-story apartment building covered by plants in Lausanne, Switzerland. The building will be finished by 2017. It contains bedrooms, offices, a gym, and a restaurant on its top floor. Boeri uses 100 cedar trees, 6,000 shrubs, and 18,000 of other plants to construct this building. He combines plants and architecture to improve the city’s air quality.
