An aqueduct carries water
across a valley. It is a kind of bridge.
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal is the highest and longest in
the United Kingdom. It was constructed in the early 19th Century.
And, it is still in use today. UNESCO included it on the World Heritage
List in 2009.
Visitors cross the 38-meter-high canal in small boats. It is one of
the major tourist attractions in the United Kingdom. |
